Developing New Skills for Advanced Manufacturing
On 21 October 2015, the Regional Innovation Monitor Plus (RIM Plus) is organising in cooperation with DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs of the European Commission and Greater Birmingham West Midland Brussels Office, a workshop dedicated to the theme of developing skills for Advanced Manufacturing.
A major challenge companies faced across many regions concerns the recruitment of skilled people. They are often forced to recruit workers from different parts of the supply chain, since they face difficulties in finding candidates with the skills sets they seek and the availability of skilled employees will be further aggravated by demographic change.
The workshop will provide an opportunity to exchange practices related to upgrading and matching skills with the industry needs, but also of anticipating those needs. It will bring together experts from various regions as well as different services of the European Commission.
